Who can apply for the True Potential Scholarship?

-Immigrants residing in Nebraska and Council Bluffs, Iowa

-Wishing to attend a Community College in Nebraska or Council Bluffs, IA.

The True Potential Scholarship is aimed to help students who want to:

-Work towards a 4-year degree by completing a transfer program at a community college and then going to any state college in Nebraska (Wayne State, Cadron State & Peru State) or

-Work towards obtaining a technical degree from a Community College or

-Learn a second language or enroll in any class at a Community College that would help them reach their True Potential.

You can be a recent high school graduate or an older student going back to school. All you need to apply for this scholarship is to be an immigrant to this country and to want to enroll in a Community College.

Just make sure you apply at least one month before classes start at the community college you’re planning to attend. This applies for regular spring and fall semesters, any quarters and summer sessions.

Essay:

Please submit a brief personal statement (250 to 500 words) - as a way to get to know you as a person and more than a collection of classes and test scores. Relax - there are no wrong answers. But we do ask you to consider grammar, spelling and the content of what you wish to express. The topic is up to you, but if you need some help getting started, here are a few ideas:

-What do you hope to do and what career do you hope to have upon completing your studies?

-What do you hope to do and what career do you hope to have five to seven years from today?

-What is the biggest obstacle that you have faced to continue your education?
