Application Deadlines

Applications are accepted twice a year:

March 30th
For students enrolling in the fall

October 30th
For students enrolling in the spring

Who Is Eligible for the True Potential Scholarship?

You are eligible if you meet all four of the following requirements:

1.You are not eligible for federal financial aid

2.You live in Nebraska or Council Bluffs, Iowa

3.You completed at least your senior year of high school in a U.S. public school or earned a GED in the United States

4.You plan to attend a community college in Nebraska or Council Bluffs, Iowa. We welcome both:

  • Recent high school graduates
  • Adult learners returning to college after time away

What Can the Scholarship Be Used For?

The scholarship can help you pursue:

  • A transfer program at a community college with plans to complete a 4-year degree at a university
  • A technical degree or career training certificate
  • Courses that support your personal or professional goals, including English language classes or workforce development training offered at a community college
  • For our community college graduates, we have a State College scholarship to pursue a four-year degree after transferring your credits. The State Colleges in Nebraska are Wayne State, Chadron State, Peru State

Scholarship Renewal

The True Potential Scholarship is awarded annually.

If you’re a current scholarship recipient and wish to continue your studies at an eligible college, you must reapply each year to be considered for renewal. The Renewal Application can be found below, and it is due May 16.

First Time Applicants

    6. Essay:

    Please submit a brief personal statement (250 to 500 words) - as a way to get to know you as a person and more than a collection of classes and test scores.

    Relax - there are no wrong answers. But we do ask you to consider grammar, spelling and the content of what you wish to express.

    The topic is up to you, but if you need some help getting started, here are a few ideas:

    • What do you hope to do and what career do you hope to have upon completing your studies?
    • What do you hope to do and what career do you hope to have five to seven years from today?
    • What is the biggest obstacle that you have faced to continue your education?
